The New York Public Library ,built in 1897-1911, is a public library system in New York City.It is the third largest public library in North America and one of the most important US research libraries.With nearly 53 million items, the New York Public Library is the second largest public library in the United States. Historian David McCullough has described this Library as one of the five most important US libraries, while the other four are the Library of Congress, the Boston Public Library, and libraries of Harvard and Yale universities.
