Safety is often at the top of travelers' checklists, and once again, the United Arab Emirates has proven it delivers peace of mind in a big way. For the second year running, the UAE has been ranked as the safest country in the world.

According to data from Numbeo, a global cost-of-living and quality-of-life database, the UAE ranked first in its Worldwide Safety Index, scoring 86.0. The rankings are based on survey feedback collected over the past 36 months from platform users.

Numbeo’s Safety Index takes several factors into account, including how people perceive overall crime levels, how safe they feel walking alone at night, and concerns related to violent crime, burglary, and discrimination. Higher scores indicate a stronger sense of safety, and the index is updated regularly as new responses are added.

The UAE wasn’t the only country in the region to perform well. Qatar secured second place with a score of 84.8, while Oman ranked sixth at 81.6. Bahrain also made the top 10, landing in tenth place with a score of 77.7.

Outside the Gulf region, Taiwan and Macao ranked fifth with scores of 83.0 and 81.8, respectively. Other destinations featured in the top 10 include the Isle of Man, Hong Kong, and Armenia.

When it comes to individual cities, the UAE’s strong showing is even more striking. Six Emirati cities currently sit within the world’s top 10 safest cities: Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, Dubai, and Fujairah.

Dubai, known for its vibrant nightlife and iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Marina, remains a safe and welcoming destination for residents and visitors alike. With a city safety score of 83.9, Dubai ranks sixth globally, following Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Doha, and Sharjah.

Abu Dhabi remains the standout performer, achieving a remarkable score of 89.0 and holding the title of the world’s safest city for the past ten consecutive years. Ajman follows closely behind in second place with a score of 86.6.

Ras Al Khaimah, celebrated for its natural beauty and relaxed atmosphere, takes third place, while Doha is the only non-UAE city to break into the top five.
