Tribute in Light Returns to NYC This September — A Beacon of Memory and Strength
Every year on September 11, New York City’s skyline glows with two beams of light reaching nearly four miles high—the Tribute in Light. It’s one of the city’s most moving traditions, honoring those lost in the 9/11 attacks while symbolizing NYC’s resilience.
This year, the installation returns on Thursday, September 11, 2025, shining from dusk until dawn. With 88 powerful bulbs, the twin lights can be seen up to 60 miles away, but the best views are right here in the city.

Where to Watch
If the skies are clear, head to:
Battery Park – closest to the site
Brooklyn Bridge Park – framed beautifully by the skyline
Astoria Park in Queens – a quieter spot
Hoboken Waterfront or Liberty State Park – stunning across the Hudson
More Than Just Lights
This year marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11, and landmarks like the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, and the Oculus will also glow in solidarity.
The Tribute in Light is a reminder that while the Twin Towers are gone, the spirit of New York shines brighter than ever.

Bring a light jacket — evenings by the water can get breezy, even in September.
