World's biggest Christmas tree unveiled in Italy
Christmas is the most important holiday of the year and not only from an economic or religious point of view, but also from an emotional one.
During Christmas we gather with our loved ones and exchange gifts in an atmosphere of joy and love around our Christmas tree.
Yes... the Christmas tree, perhaps the main symbol of this holiday all over the world. Have you ever wondered if there is the largest Christmas tree in the world and where it is set up?
Well you must know that this tree is set up every year in Italy, in Gubbio (Umbria).
You don't have to think of this as a classic Christmas tree, but as an installation that recalls it: the lights, in fact, are displayed on Monte Igino and recall the shape of a fir tree.
The story of the largest Christmas tree in the world was born in 1981 from an idea by Mario Santini and was lit for the first time on December 24 of the same year. In 1991 he entered the Guinness World Record.
Now the tree is turned on every year on December 7th and turned off on the second Sunday in January.

The lighting ceremony is an event for Gubbio. On this day, you can attend musical and artistic events always in the name of originality. For example, in 2019 the Christmas tree was lit from the Bethlehem grotto, and in 2017 it was lit from the ISS space station.
In short, lighting the tree has become of worldwide interest, so much so that over the years there have been as many as 65 newspapers that have talked about it. This is also a record for a Christmas tree!
It is a mammoth project thanks to its 750 meters high and 450 wide at the base. And, just think: the star alone takes up 1000 square meters!
But that's not all: the entire tree is made up of 950 lights: 250 for the comet, 300 for the outline of the tree and 400 for the inside of the outline of the tree.
To carry out a work like this and lay the 7,500 meters of cables used for the connections, the 1,350 electrical outlets and all the rest, 1,300 hours of work are required, which is about two months of work if we worked 24 hours non-stop. seven days out of seven.
A very important thing is that the lights are turned on using renewable and clean energy sources, so this tree as well as being the largest in the world is also probably the most ecological.
But the tree is not only lights and folklore but also love.
In fact, the lights on this tree are linked to an initiative: anyone, at a cost of 10 euros, can adopt a light from the Gubbio Christmas tree and dedicate it to someone they love. There are many people who, every year, decide to dedicate a star to a loved one or to initiatives.
The money raised is used to partially cover the costs of the tree, but the gift given with a similar dedication is truly something special. But you have to hurry to get a light: they are really snapped up even before the tree is turned on!
What do you think: wouldn't it be wonderful to give a light from this tree to the one you love?
