Alaska: An entire city lives in a single building - It houses homes, a school, a church & a hospital! (Video)

Whittier is a small, remote town, about 58 miles (93 km)  southeast of Anchorage in Alaska, commonly referred to as "city that lives under one roof". And what does this mean?

About 80% of the city’s residents ( almost 220 inhabitants) live in a large building, the famous Begich Towers designed in 1953, which contains everything a small town needs.

The strangest thing is that residents don't even have to leave the building they live in if they don't want to, since they can find everything next to them! Church, school, clinic, grocery store, police station and even the post office within one self-sufficient structure.

The Begich Towers also has bed and breakfast accommodation and guests are welcome to come to the city and observe life in the strangest city in the world, where the inhabitants live like a big family. There are also some apartments separate from the main building.

Access to this secluded Alaskan city is either by boat or through a tunnel.
