Flight Disruptions Reported at Dubai Airport Following Nearby Drone Incident

Operations at Dubai International Airport were briefly interrupted on Monday after a drone-related incident sparked a fire near the airport. Authorities temporarily suspended flights as a precaution while emergency teams worked to control the situation.

According to an update shared by Dubai’s media office on the social media platform X, the fire was quickly brought under control and no injuries were reported. However, aviation officials chose to pause airport activity for safety reasons during the response.

Major airline Emirates confirmed that some of its services were affected by the disruption. The carrier initially advised passengers not to travel to the airport while the situation was being assessed. In its communication to travellers, Emirates emphasised that ensuring the safety of passengers and crew remained its top priority.

Later in the day, the airline announced that a reduced flight programme would resume from 10:00am local time. Despite the partial restart, several scheduled departures were cancelled. Emirates stated that passengers impacted by the changes would receive direct notifications along with information about alternative travel arrangements.

Travellers flying through Dubai were encouraged to monitor official airline updates and check their flight status before heading to the airport.
