Giant Hands of Venice’s Grand Canal
As swarms of eager tourists embark on a picturesque journey, gliding gracefully in Venetian gondolas along the meandering waterways of the globally renowned Grand Canal, they embark on an enchanting voyage through a realm steeped in historical grandeur. Yet, this seemingly timeless experience takes a remarkable twist as they encounter the Ca'Sagredo Hotel, an architectural gem dating back to the 14th century, where the ancient seamlessly intertwines with the avant-garde, unfurling a poignant narrative that resonates with the pressing challenges of the modern age.
Within the hallowed confines of this venerable establishment, an unconventional spectacle unfolds: a bold and contemporary art installation named "Support." This artistic marvel is the brainchild of none other than Lorenzo Quinn, an accomplished artist and scion of the legendary actor Antony Quinn. "Support" assumes the form of two colossal hands, their pristine white surfaces meticulously etched with intricate creases, meticulously manicured fingernails, and a multitude of minute details, all painstakingly crafted to captivate the senses.

As one gazes upon this striking tableau, an awe-inspiring symbolism takes shape, for these colossal hands appear as if conjured from the depths of human imagination to fulfill an improbable role—cradling the timeworn walls of the historic hotel, seemingly poised to prevent it from succumbing to the inexorable embrace of the encroaching waters. In this visual masterpiece, we find a profound metaphor for the dual forces at play: the imminent menace of climate change threatening to submerge the Floating City beneath the relentless Mediterranean tides, and the enduring resilience of humankind's indomitable spirit to combat this impending catastrophe.

With a stroke of deliberate intent, the sculptor, Lorenzo Quinn, sought inspiration from the most innocent and potent source—the visage of his own children. In doing so, he imbued "Support" with an indelible essence, a poignant representation of the hope, determination, and strength embodied by the forthcoming generation. Originally conceived in the confines of a Barcelona studio, this magnificent creation embarked on an extraordinary odyssey of its own, traversing the vast expanse of waterways to finally make its temporary abode within the heart of Venice's iconic Grand Canal.
