UAE reveals the real reason behind that bad smell in Dubai
A tanker oil spill affecting the coast of Umm Al Quwain has been linked to the fuel-like odor reported in Dubai and neighboring emirates. UAE authorities have launched containment and clean-up operations, while temporarily restricting access to affected coastal areas.
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment confirmed that its monitoring systems detected pollution affecting Umm Al Quwain’s beaches. Residents across parts of Dubai and the northern emirates had reported an unusually strong smell in the preceding days.
Authorities in Umm Al Quwain have temporarily closed all beaches and coastal areas while specialists assess conditions and determine the measures needed to protect the public and the marine environment. Sharjah authorities have also closed Al Hamriyah Beach as a precaution.
Teams from local and federal authorities are working to contain the spill, secure affected locations and remove pollution. Coastal inspections and environmental monitoring are continuing to establish the extent of the impact.
According to the ministry, the odors reported in Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain pose no health risks to residents. However, the public has been advised to avoid any oil that reaches the shore. Fishermen and other sea users should follow official instructions and avoid fishing in polluted areas.
The ministry has urged residents to rely on official updates and avoid circulating rumors as the response continues.
