Los Angeles Ranked the Hardest U.S. City to Get Around

Navigating a new city can be difficult, especially in places where traffic, distance, and limited public transit complicate daily routines. A new study identifies Los Angeles as the hardest U.S. city to get around.

A study by eSIM provider Holafly ranked 69 U.S. cities by ease of navigation. Los Angeles ranked as the most difficult, primarily due to car dependence and poor walkability.

Only 2.55% of Angelenos regularly commute on foot, highlighting how unfriendly the city is to pedestrians. Public transportation options are also scarce, with just three major systems serving a massive metropolitan area. As a result, getting from point A to point B often takes longer than expected, with average commute times stretching to 57 minutes.

Safety concerns add to the complexity. Los Angeles recorded a moderate crime index score of 54.01, which can make navigating unfamiliar neighborhoods feel stressful—especially for tourists.
