UAE announces Eid Al Adha 2026 holiday dates

Residents across the UAE can begin organizing their holiday plans after officials confirmed the dates for the Eid Al Adha break in 2026. The upcoming holiday period is expected to be the longest official break of the year for many workers across the country.

For employees in both the public and private sectors, the holiday will take place from Tuesday, May 26, through Friday, May 29, with regular work schedules resuming on Monday, June 1. Combined with the weekend, many residents will enjoy a six-day break.

Government employees will benefit from additional time off. According to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR), public sector staff will begin their holiday earlier, on Monday, May 25, creating an even longer period away from work.

The holiday includes both Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha, with the dates officially determined through moon-sighting announcements.

As the Islamic calendar follows the Hijri system, which is shorter than the Gregorian calendar, religious holidays move slightly earlier each year.

Eid Al Adha is considered one of the UAE’s most important annual celebrations. During this period, families often gather, communities host events, and residents take advantage of the extended break to travel, enjoy leisure activities, dine out, and celebrate locally.

With almost a week of holiday time now officially confirmed, travel demand is expected to rise rapidly. Airports, hotels, and popular staycation destinations are likely to see increased bookings as people make plans for the festive period.
