Three dead at Riyadh Airport as Houthi rebels blow up plane in terrifying attack

Saudi aviation authorities say three Saudi nationals died and several other people were wounded in two attacks at King Khalid International Airport on Thursday, October 8.

Officials said the first incident targeted airport facilities. A subsequent strike hit a parked aircraft operated by Saudi Arabia’s national airline, Saudia. Those injured included Saudi citizens and residents of different nationalities.

Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed responsibility, saying it had launched a ballistic missile at the airport. The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation’s statement did not name the attackers.

The fatalities came amid renewed fighting in Yemen, following a major offensive launched the previous weekend by Saudi Arabia and allied forces against the Iran-backed Houthis. The airport attacks were the deadliest reported in the kingdom since that operation began.
