The archeological "heart" of Thira beats in Akrotiri, a top destination if you love history. It is an ancient settlement that has been in obscurity for more than 3,500 years. There you will find murals, works of art and the ruins of a well-designed city with multi-level buildings, water supply system, furniture and all these well preserved after the Minoan earthquake that was "buried" them.
