Try the local flavors
Try the wonderful local dishes of the island such as the famous fava beans and the tomato meatballs of the island. Also, the special soil and climate of Santorini was fertile ground for the vine growers of the Cyclades, who endowed the island with a heavy tradition in winemaking. The most famous local wine on the island to try is Vinsanto.

Admire the most beautiful sunset
Even if you do not belong to the romantics of this world, it is impossible not to be seduced by the flooded streets of Oia to admire the magical sunset of Santorini. An amazing color palette is created when the sun seems to dive into the sea. Oia Castle is the top choice to see the sunset, but it is not the only place where you can enjoy the special feeling that the sunset offers in Santorini. If you are looking for a place with fewer spectators, you can visit the hill of ancient Thira, the lighthouse, and the beach of Vlychada.

Enjoy a night out in Fira
Enjoy the enchanting beaches of the island during the day as well as the wonderful sunset in Oia, but the night rightfully belongs to Fira, the living capital of the island that has not only beautiful cave houses on the Caldera side, but also a multitude of bars, restaurants, taverns, fast food restaurants and squares, which "buzz" pleasantly all night.

Go diving
Perhaps only diving enthusiasts can appreciate the uniqueness of such an experience. Diving in Santorini is a really exciting experience as you have the opportunity to discover an impressive underwater world, thanks to the volcanic activity of the island, a phenomenon unique in the Mediterranean. You will be able to see redfish, colorful sponges or sea slugs with its wonderful colors, volcanic rocks.

Visit the volcano
Every day boats depart from the port of Fira for the volcano and the neighboring island of Thirasia, which are worth boarding if you are fascinated by the idea of being on an active volcano. Note that the mini excursion is not suitable for those who have difficulty for a long time in the sun or on the climb. There you will see "wild" hills that you have to climb under the hot sun. And yet, it is worth it !

Stay in a cave house
The cave houses were built by the locals in the rocks in order to protect them from the winds. Their advantage is that they offer coolness in summer and warmth in winter while their architecture gives an anarchic beauty to the landscape. It may cost a lot, especially in the summer months, but it's another unique experience that this magical island offers.

Discover the archeological treasures of the island
The archeological "heart" of Thira beats in Akrotiri, a top destination if you love history. It is an ancient settlement that has been in obscurity for more than 3,500 years. There you will find murals, works of art and the ruins of a well-designed city with multi-level buildings, water supply system, furniture and all these well preserved after the Minoan earthquake that was "buried" them. Also, in Fira you will find the Museum of Prehistoric Thera and the Archaeological Museum, with sculptures, inscriptions, ceramics, logs and finds from Akrotiri, Potamos and other parts of the island.
